What is Copyright Infringement?

Copyright Infringement is when you copy articles, text, stories, images, html, graphics or anything and republish it without the permission of the copyright owner. Being on the internet doesn't make it PUBLIC DOMAIN.

Example:
If you copy any image on this web site and use it on a web forum, web site, blog, calendar, or anything it is considered republishing of the image and would be copyright infringement.

Why? Because you did not get permission from the legal copyright owner of the image(ScenicNH.com) to use it.

You need to seek permission, which is usually in the written format before republishing any ones work. If you CAN NOT prove that you have permission to republish the work then it is considered copyright infringement.

What Happens if you get caught?

You would be billed the United States industry-standard TRIPLE FEE for unauthorized usage and/or prosecuted for Copyright Infringement in U.S. Federal Court where you will be subject to a fine of US$100,000 statutory damages as well as our court costs and attorneys' fees.

And if you are using the copyrighted work on the internet(such as a web site forum) you are taking a chance of that web site being hit with a DMCA take down notice, which means that web site is going to be shut down.

Playing dumb does not work when it comes to copyright infringement.

Here is great link to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act:

It is very simple-If you did not create the work.....You need permission to use the work.
