Black Bears, White Mountains
2010
Black Bears, White Mountains – Bluff charges and tent ransacking are the topic of discussion these days (July 2010) here in the New Hampshire's White Mountains. There have been reports of bears causing trouble for hikers and campers throughout the White Mountain National Forest.
Recently bears raided the Thirteen Falls campsite in the Pemigewasset Wilderness. The bears entered hiker's tents and got away with food. One couple that experienced the raid at Thirteen Falls campsite stated the bears were not frightened by humans.
Resolution Shelter Closed
2010
Resolution Shelter Closed, June 21, 2010 – The Resolution Shelter in the Dry River Wilderness of the White Mountains, New Hampshire has been closed. It has been deemed unsafe. This shelter has been in bad shape for a number of years. And over the years it seemed like every time I stayed at this shelter it was during blizzard conditions or in some form of bad weather.
