Lincoln Woods Trail Temporary Closure
Lincoln Woods Trail, New Hampshire – Tropical Storm Irene Damaged
 

July 2013, Lincoln Woods Trail Temporary Closure – The Lincoln Woods Trail in Lincoln, New Hampshire will be temporary closed in mid-August 2013 for six to eight weeks while Forest Service repairs damage from Tropical Storm Irene. You can read the White Mountains National Forest announcement here.

Black Bears, White Mountains – Bluff charges and tent ransacking are the topic of discussion these days (July 2010) here in the New Hampshire's White Mountains. There have been reports of bears causing trouble for hikers and campers throughout the White Mountain National Forest.

The Perch Shelter, White Mountains

The Perch Shelter is located along Perch Path in Cascade  Ravine just off the Randolph Path and Israel Ridge Path in the Northern Presidential Range, which is located in the White Mountain National Forest of New Hampshire.

The Perch Shelter, White Mountains – The Perch Shelter is located along Perch Path in Cascade Ravine just off Randolph Path and Israel Ridge Path in the Presidential Range in the White Mountains, New Hampshire. Four tent platforms are also located at the Perch Shelter site.

Originally a birch bark building, the Perch Shelter dates back to the 1890s (around 1892) when J. Rayner Edmands built three camps in Cascade Ravine; Cascade Camp, Cliff Shelter, and the Perch Shelter. It has been renovated numerous times over the years, and the above photo shows how the shelter looked before the Randolph Mountain Club (RMC) renovated it in July / August 2010.

Resolution Shelter - Located off Davis Path in the Dry River Wilderness. This is a  Adirondack-style shelter located in the White Mountains, New Hampshire USA.

Resolution Shelter Closed, June 21, 2010 – The Resolution Shelter in the Dry River Wilderness of the White Mountains, New Hampshire has been closed. It has been deemed unsafe. This shelter has been in bad shape for a number of years. And over the years it seemed like every time I stayed at this shelter it was during blizzard conditions or in some form of bad weather.
