Campsite Trash, Kancamagus Scenic Byway

Poor leave no trace ethics on Fire road 511 along the Kancamagus Highway (route 112), which is one of New England's scenic byways in the White Mountains, New Hampshire. This road has many campgrounds but campers still prefer to camp off in the woods. Leaving a mess behind, like this, is not acceptable. People need to pick up their mess when they leave the forest.

Campsite TrashKancamagus Scenic Byway – Admittedly the heat has taken its toll on me this week and I didn’t feel like doing anything today. My plans for the day were to walk up Forest Road 511 along the Kancamagus Scenic Byway in New Hampshire to finish photographing a hardwood forest I found a few months ago. There is a nice mix of hardwoods in this area.

As I started walking up the Forest Road, I changed my plans and decided to pick up a mess left at a campsite along the Forest Road. The trash has been there a least a few months (maybe more), definitely abandoned. Most of it has been blowing around the area.

Swift River – White Mountains, New Hampshire Summer

Swift River, White Mountains – Living in the White Mountains of New Hampshire I have the benefit of being able to photograph locations during all four seasons. One area of the White Mountains I have photographed in every season is the Swift River along the Kancamagus Scenic Bypass.

When building an image archive, photographing locations in every season can be beneficial, but photographers must keep in mind that building a successful image archive involves photographing new locations and scenes, not photographing the some scene over and over.

Kancamagus Scenic Byway, New Hampshire – The Kancamagus Scenic Byway, located in New Hampshire, is considered one of the best scenic drives in the Northeast. It is about 35 miles long and was opened in 1959 after two dead end roads, one in Lincoln and the other in Conway, were connected.

This scenic road is known worldwide for it outstanding foliage during the autumn months. And though the scenic byway attracts the most visitors during the autumn months, I think it is a great area to explore any time of year. Photographers will have endless photo opportunities.

Wildlife Paparazzi Photographer – What is a wildlife paparazzi photographer? Defined as one who pursues wildlife much in the same way the paparazzi pursue the rich and famous.

Is there anything wrong with being labeled this? I am not really sure, but I would not want to be labeled as one. Unfortunately, some overzealous photographers give it a negative meaning by using poor tactics and judgment when trying to get "the shot" at wildlife jams in national parks or anywhere wildlife can be found.

Kancamagus Scenic Byway

Kancamagus Scenic Byway New Hampshire Images by ScenicNH Photography LLC

Kancamagus Scenic Byway, New Hampshire – New stock photography images have been added to the ScenicNH Photography image archive. These images are focused around the Kancamagus Scenic Byway in the White Mountains of New Hampshire USA. Above is a slideshow of scenes from along the Kancamagus Byway.

The Kancamagus Scenic Byway is considered to be one of New England's top scenic byways. The best time to drive, explore and photograph it is during peak foliage season. I also find the winter season a great time to explore the scenic byway, but autumn is best.
