Mountain Reflections, New Hampshire – I have always thought the perfect New Hampshire landscape scene includes a mountain, a lake or pond, and clouds reflecting in the water. I think including all three of these elements in a scene makes for an interesting and unique photograph. And one of the bonuses of these types of photos is cloud formations are usually different day to day, so no two images are identical.

To pick a favorite mountain reflection photo from my image archive would take me many hours so instead of doing that I am going to post a few locations that have excellent reflection scenes. These locations may interest hikers, photographers, and visitors exploring the New Hampshire White Mountains.

Crawford Path, White Mountains – Crawford Path, located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, is the oldest continuously-used mountain trail in America. And for a period of time, it was used as a horse trail to Mt Washington. This eight and half mile historic path came to be in 1819 when Abel Crawford and his son, Ethan Allen, began building a trail to the summit of Mt Pierce, formerly Mt Clinton. Once north of Mt Pierce, the Crawford Path follows the famed Appalachian Trail corridor to the summit of Mt Washington.

The entire eight and a half miles of Crawford Path is a photographer's delight. Landscape photographers will love the bold mountain scenes, while macro photographers will enjoy the variety of alpine flowers along the trail. If a photographer plans accordingly, he or she can spend a full day shooting along this historic path.

Top 10 images of 2011 – Hard to believe another year is gone! Where does the time go? I decided on a pretty radical plan for 2011 with much of my focus on the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The outcome has been very positive and after ten years of visiting one location over and over, I finally walked away with an image I am happy with! Yes its included! Though much my photography work is done deep in the forests of the mountains, my favorites this year are of known locations. I am not sure if any of these images are stand outs, but they are my favorite ones for today. Let me know what you think?
