Harvard Brook – Lincoln, New Hampshire
Scenes of May, New Hampshire – The grass is finally green, and the weather has been great during the month of May here in the New Hampshire White Mountains. And the unofficial start to summer, Memorial Day weekend, is only a few days away. Some seem to think that this summer tourist season is going to be a busy one, and from what I am seeing, when out and about, I feel it is going to be even busier than last summer.
One of the challenges working nature photographers have to deal with is finding a good balance between field time and office time. The reality is we spend most of the time in the office, not out in the field creating imagery. This month is the first month in years that I had a good balance between the two.
Bridesmaid (Noble) Falls – Franconia, New Hampshire
May, White Mountains – Here in the New Hampshire White Mountains warm weather has finally arrived, and lawns are being mowed again. May is a great time to explore and photograph the many waterfalls in the White Mountains. The waterfalls included in this blog article are nothing more than small brooks during most months, but during spring snowmelt and after heavy rains they become interesting photo subjects.
This month, I spent a few days shooting in the Benton, Easton, Franconia and Landaff area of New Hampshire. I have had a great time photographing a few new locations. A photographer with an open mind will enjoy the many photo opportunities in this area. I also spent three days in the northern portion of the state but have yet to edit the imagery from these days.
East Branch of the Pemigewasset River – Lincoln, New Hampshire
Scenes of May, White Mountains – The snow is gone here in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and I have finally stored my snowshoes and traction devices for the season. If you look hard enough though you still can find small pockets of snow in the forest, and of course Tuckerman Ravine still has patches of snow..
May in the White Mountains has been awesome! The spring snow melt combined with heavy rains has made for great waterscape imagery. As the month comes to an end water levels are getting back to normal.
